Law-and-order situation in Gilgit city and adjoining areas remained tense on second consecutive day after death of two persons including a police cop besides injury to six others in clash between two students' groups of Karakurram University. According to details, two groups of KU Gilgit clashed over unknown dispute. The police fired tear gas and used baton charge to disperse the enraged students.

Due to firing and pelting stones by students a police cop among two persons were killed while six others sustained wounds. The city administration to maintain the law-and-order situation imposed Section 144 for an indefinite time period. Meanwhile, KU administration also closed the university till Monday to settle down the dispute till then.
